Saving Your Custom Settings When Upgrading

The coolest features of DPLineStyler are the ability to save custom line settings, and to be able to use any component as a repeating symbol in your lines. But what happens when you upgrade to a newer version of DPLS or reinstall it in a new version of SketchUp?

If you just reinstall DPLS, your custom settings will be "clobbered." A new, factory-fresh settings file and folder of symbols will be installed, and your old ones will be lost.

But fear not! It's easy to save your precious settings and symbols. All you have to do is follow a few steps:

1. BEFORE starting the upgrade, open your Plugins folder and find the subfolder named "dp_line_styler."

2. Open the dp_line_styler folder and drag the file named "styles.txt" and the folder named "symbols" out to another location where they'll be safe.

3. Install the new version of DPLS.

4. Go back to your Plugins folder, find the (new) "dp_line_styler" folder, and open it.

5. Drag your saved "styles.txt" file and "symbols" folder into the "dp_line_styler" folder. When asked, say yes, you want to Replace the ones that are already there.

That's it! Your new version of DPLS will open with your old custom settings.
